Face the 80's - Special One Night Screening!

Special screening of the 1979 feature length film FACE THE '80s (directed by local musician Mark J. Norton) will play one night at the Outer Limits Lounge in Hamtramck. Featuring twenty three bands from Detroit's '78-'79 musical era, FACE THE '80s is a unique musical document of the Motor City's punk revolution featuring interviews with local scene makers and musicians it runs close to two hours.

Live performances captures a unique moment in time when dozens of local bands played punk rock and new wave original music. Shot entirely in Super-8 film stock, the live venue scenes are mainly from Detroit's punk early headquarters Bookie's Club 870 as well as Aruba Palace, Second Chance, The New Miami, The Silver Bird and The Latino Ballroom
Local Detroit bands include The A-Moms, Bootsey X, The Boners, The Cadillac Kids, Cinecyde, Coldcock, The Cubes, The Cult Heroes, Dangerous Diane, The Denizens, Destroy All Monsters, Flirt, The Ivories, The Mutants, Nikki Corvette, The Pigs, The Reruns, The Romantics, R.U.R., The Sillies, Sonics Rendezvous Band and The Twenty Seven.

The ragged glory of period Super-8 sight and sound has been lovingly restored by Richard "Tex" Newman (R.U.R. band) and '80s punk rock video shoots veteran Lance Rosol.
After the first half is screened entertainment journalist Paul Zimmerman will interview and take questions from the audience with the film's co-producer, co-editor and cinematographer Dana Novak.

Between the screening segments DJs Nai Sammon & DJ Squirt Shack will spin period (and beyond) punk music.
